Since graduating my BFA in 2004 I have been producing documentaries as part of the AV department for The Learning Connexion, an art school in Wellington who provide art documentaries and educational resources to students studying remotely around New Zealand.
I have also directed and edited a number of music videos, as well as corporate, personal and collaborative video productions. Recently I produced a documentary shot in Tanzania, Africa, as Branch Out Media's first project, in partnership with the Learning Connexion.
At the end of 2007 I traveled to Africa to film Branch Out Media's first production, "MSANII - Artists of Bagamoyo" in partnership with The Learning Connexion
With Branch Out Media I hope to bring together my interest in humanitarian issues with other fields of research, corporate, promotions and community projects. Though I am currently running as a sole operator of Branch Out Media, I am working with a network of trusted collaborators and contractors, to take on larger and more ambitious projects. I am also interesting in providing opportunities to film makers who are starting out and looking for a place to gain experience producing high quality documentaries.
Storyboarding - I have made storyboards for many documentary pieces, as well as features, shorts and music videos
Directing - I have directed more than five documentaries, a number of short films and a feature length student film.
Interviewing - In producing documentaries I have developed strong skills and strategies for interviewing.
Camera - I have acted as a camera operator with film - Super 8 and 16mm, and video - multi-camera setups, DVCam and HDV with complex mic arrangements for interviews.
Editing - I am Apple Certified with 6 years full-time experience as a Final Cut Pro editor. I have edited over 25 high quality documentaries utilizing skills in Adobe After Effects, Motion and Photoshop.
Animation - I use motion graphics regularly, designing titles and animations and have produced 2 animated music videos and a Motion Graphics Promo for Random House.
DVD Authoring - I have produced 3 director show reels including director commentary, and an interactive promo dvd with chapter menu, info page, trailers etc.
